Goodbye summer, hello fall! Most of us never think about it, but as the seasons change, how we deal with our skin needs to be reevaluated as well. Here are 8 tips for making a smooth skincare transition from summer to fall.
1. Change up your cleansing regimen. During the summer months, gel cleansers are great for deep cleaning at night. However, these may be a bit drying once temperatures cool and your face's oil production begins to slow down. Think about cleansers that aren't as stripping and drying and ensure you do not over cleanse. Believe it or not, your skin really only needs to be cleansed once a day. 2. Boosting hydration is a fall must.
Many people overlook toners in their daily skincare regimens. If you aren’t already a fan, now is the time to fall in love. Alcohol-free toners are a perfect way to give your skin the boost in hydration it so desperately needs during this dry season. Remember to apply your serum while the toner is still dewy on the skin, as this helps with deeper absorption.
3. Switch up to a heavier moisturizer.
A lightweight moisturizer may be enough in the warm summer months, but come the cooler winter, a heavier cream that seals in moisture may be a better option. 4. Continue using your SPF!

Don't fall prey to thinking that just because the temperature has dropped, the sun isn't as harmful. The largest contribution to aging is UV damage and it's always lurking just around the corner. Protection is a year round process and regular application to your face, neck and chest is a full time job.
5. Think about adding a retinol back into your routine.
Serums are the best! As the work horses of any skincare regimen, they absorb deep into the skin where we need them the most. During the summer months we recommend cutting down on exfoliation to avoid increased sensitivity and over processing skin, which leaves you open to more advanced skincare exposure.
