The Holy Grail of Skincare Ingredients, Vitamin C!

March 9, 2020

So what's the big hype over Vitamin C Serums?  Well, its simple, they really work!   C serums done right perform a multitude of functions.  They can repair uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, acne scars, overall dullness - you name it, just about any common skin concern is likely to benefit from a topical vitamin C used regularly, even those with normal/sensitive skin.

This super hero ingredient is a potent antioxidant that aids your skin's natural regeneration process and leads to your bodies natural ability to repair damaged skin.

To help you better understand, topical antioxidants help offset daily aggressors like UV damage from the sun, yes even on cloudy days, and exposure to air pollution, which has become an everyday occurrence.  How does it work?  Well, the antioxidants found in vitamin c reduce and even help to prevent damage to our cells by neutralizing the production of free radicals, the dastardly little devils that cause all of the damage associated with visible signs of aging.

What's great is, because C is highly acidic, it pushes the body to heal itself, thus speeding up cell turnover, which increases the production of collagen and elastin.  Both of these proteins work to keep skin plump and firm, minimizing the signs of aging.  The properties contained in vitamin C inhibits your skin's melanin production, which is what causes the dark spots frequently associated with sun damage, leaving skin tone more even.  It's also a super brightening agent that works to fade hyper-pigmentation, frequently associated with excessive exposure to sun, without affecting the normal tissue around it.

We've gone a step further with our Intensive C Serum by using stabilized vitamin c, which means it won't oxidize when it hits the air, keeping it at full strength for the most effective results.  We've also added Hyaluronic Acid, another super hero ingredient known to gather 1000 x it's weight in moisture and absorbing it deep into the dermis, keeping your skin moist,  happy and plump for that photo perfect glow. We decided to take it a level up from there by adding a bit of Ferulic Acid, a naturally occurring acid found in certain foods, which boosts the effectiveness of the vitamin c, leaving skin brighter, more even and glowing.

In ending our review of the many benefits of Vitamin C, just remember anti-aging can be dealt with through a myriad of products.  Sometimes that can be downright confusing, so we are here to help.  Layering them together and/or using them in tandem is the best way to achieve the highest level of desired results.  We suggest layering our Intensive C Serum under Solar Defense Daily Moisturizer to maximize the repairing, protecting and on going health of your skin.  Can't wait to hear about your results!
